Our economy is killing us. Isn't it time we redesigned it? Our @francesrayner in today's @heraldscotland heraldscotland.com/opinion/205784…

There are people in the UK who make their money from the assets they own (like property and shares) rather than the work they carry out. The current rate of capital gains tax means people who make their money from what they own are taxed at a lower rate than people who work.

There needs to be a plan & mechanism in place to bring benefit rates up to levels that ensure everyone can afford to meet their essential costs In inflation-linked increase, especially when based on an anomalously low monthly rate, is simply not enough theguardian.com/society/2024/o…

Northern Gaza is being wiped off the map. Not my words but those of 38 respected aid agencies including @Oxfam @christianaid @MedicalAidPal Staying silent is not an option. Passivity is not an option. Complicity is not an option. For the sake of humanity, we must see action.

🚨REACTION: Oxfam and 38 aid agencies warn that Northern Gaza is "being erased", and urge global leaders to immediately end Israel’s atrocities. Read our joint statement 👉oxf.am/3YzLZxL

If you're looking for a common sense solution to our country's economic problems, look no further than what Julia Davies had to say on @SkyNews For the British people, and investors, we need to equalise taxes on wealth with those on work and create a stronger, better Britain.

Julia Davies from @PatMillsUK talking sense on equalising capital gains tax with income tax. As opposed to her fellow guest, who kept saying such a move would make business people like him leave the UK. He was speaking from Marbella.

When climate change is communicating itself so brutally in Florida, how can we speak up and connect the dots without adding to people's pain or alienating audiences? Here are our 3 recommendations on how to communicate about #hurricanemilton2024 and what to avoid: ❌I told you…

#Milton is the fastest Atlantic hurricane to intensify from a Tropical Depression to a Category 5 Hurricane, taking just over 48 hours. This animation shows Milton as it intensified, with the heaviest rains (red) concentrated near the center. go.nasa.gov/3zUHi7Z

It is welcome for @scotgov to once again recognise it should support free bus travel for asylum seekers. Well done to all MSPs who backed this motion @ScotParl today.

Politics is about choices. Free bus travel for asylum seekers would cost £2milllion. The @scotgov has chosen to fund carbon capture greenwash over helping some of the most vulnerable people.
