We are delighted that @BAESystemsplc has donated six welding machines. They have been used to weld 128 new plates, covering almost 1,200m2, helping to make Queen Mary watertight for the first time since she was rescued by the Charity in 2015.

The TS Queen Mary moored next to the Glasgow Tower. This is a Clyde steamer which was built at the William Denny Shipyard in Dumbarton. In 1936, it had to change its name to the Queen Mary II. Cont./ #Glasgow #clydebuilt #steamship #queenmary

In this video you can see the steel for #queenmary being prepared at Tata’s Port Talbot facility, and being shipped to Clyde Corrosion (in Renfrew) for blasting. You can also see the stiffeners for the underside of the boat deck being plasma cut. #follow fb.watch/o6wNGM0i2m/
