To make it very clear, GenAI is rotting away the creative industry like a cancer & when this happens this effects not just artists, but writers as well. This shouldn't be allowed to happen at all. RT & Sign this petition below 👇 #BoycottGenerativeAI change.org/p/halt-disney-…

Top AI systems have been trained on screenplays for over 50,000 films and 85,000 TV shows, according to a new deep dive by Alex Reiser in The Atlantic. Not necessarily *surprising*, but good to see this dug into and confirmed:

The (important) conversation about gAI is still happening here, hence i will probably keep this account active. But for art and game dev bsky appears to be the better platform now. People actually see my stuff and react despite fewer followers.

Personal rant but I’m still bummed that Adobe decided to turn away their backs on the artists and creatives it relied upon to go full throttle on GenAi, a tech that is intent on replacing us. It’s also wild to me Adobe is not even offering a version without any GenAi at all.

If you liked places like Diamond City in Fallout 4 or Blackreach in Skyrim (I worked on both) be sure to check out my heavy metal horror game, The Axis Unseen🤘 It’s out now and there’s a demo🏹It’s rated Very Positive on Steam and people have started speed running it!🔥…

My CEO salary is 50k. A third of my last developer salary. I didn’t take a salary for nearly 3 years. I take what I deem fair for the work I do whilst making sure my staff are paid well. Some earn more than me. I have wealth. I’m very fortunate in that regard. I don’t need to…

Despite massive layoffs from Microsoft, its CEO Satya Nadella received a $30 million pay raise over the past fiscal year for a total compensation of $79.11 million. That's a 63% increase: 80.lv/articles/micro… #gameindustry #gamedev

Today we’re publishing a statement on AI training, signed by 10,000+ creators already: “The unlicensed use of creative works for training generative AI is a major, unjust threat to the livelihoods of the people behind those works, and must not be permitted.” Signatories include…

These execs are evil. I don't know what their endgame is by cannibalizing their paying customers and making it harder to earn a living using their software. If they actually think more money is in people who actively don't want to pay for art they will be in for a rude awakening.

It turns out that with edge detect, a little bit of bevel and auto levels you can do something cool with rocks

Let's see if we can make this work. So far it vibes pretty good compared to this platform. I will post my art and game dev related stuff over there.

Curation is so desperately needed. The trash flood is double hurting artists. It kills visibility and it turns off potential customers to begin with. What's weird is that when i publish my products they make me jump through the silliest hoops yet utter shite goes through with np.

Week 6 has arrived and we are spotlighting "Engine Room" biome from our upcoming metroidvania, @somberechoes Thanks to the incredible response to our demo at Steam Next Fest, we've decided to extend its availability for a few more weeks: store.steampowered.com/app/1299290/So… Thank you! ❤️

So #fab launched and somehow it's actually even worse than the Unreal Marketplace. Thumbnails are awful, no page for a sales report(?). Everything full of AI slop from the get go that has not been flagged as such. When reporting it can't even write the reason.

Maybe it's time for forums to have a comeback in popularity? Why are we so hell bent on using social media platforms that make it ever more difficult to connect with like minded people and to share, find and digest useful information?

When Timbre shut down, I asked if I could share my foliage workflow that we documented for our style guide. So finally I bring you a pdf of the breakdown I made for my team. I miss them 😭 It's free (or you can buy a tired mom a coffee) sarahstlaurent.gumroad.com/l/ywxpu

That looks dope. Game was in a much earlier development stage when i made materials for it. Really pleased with how this evolved since.

*No filter* You might think I am an amazingly talented gamer athlete - but here is an unedited snippet of the final boss of the Somber Echoes Demo... it is hard. #metroidvania #somberechoes #indiegame #indiegames #IndieGameDev #SteamNextFest #Steam #SteamNextFest
