After a long time in the making, my first first-author paper of my PhD is available for pre-print on @EGU_TC discussions! fliphilipp.github.io/publication/20… Now back to processing a few hundred more TBs of space laser data.

In case anyone still thought this was about "graffiti"—UC is clearly misusing their private police to target unions. Last night they searched a member’s home for: “Evidence of membership or affiliation with any university organization […] to include any reference to "UAW"

Labor Relations @UCSanDiego told workers back in December it was ok to chalk on buildings. On 6/30 the university had 3 workers arrested on felony charges of vandalism. Funny how things change when the boss wants to wriggle out of a union contract.

On 6/30 @UCSanDiego used campus police to arrest three academic workers at their homes on felony charges of vandalism for chalking “Living Wages Now” on a building in a protest a month prior. Now it turns out UCSD had previously told workers it was ok to chalk buildings.

On 06/29/23, 3 SIO workers were arrested outside their homes. They were charged w/ felony vandalism & conspiracy to commit a crime; arrests were related to an investigation of recent events on @Scripps_Ocean campus. Show support: tinyurl.com/sio-supports 🧵about this 👇 (1/13)

University of California San Diego Police jailed student workers, confiscated their belongings and charged them with felonies - all for writing informative messages about the university's ongoing labor violations using washable chalk. Sign the petition! chng.it/Vfy76sDp

UCSD faculty wrote a letter in solidarity with 67 grad workers rep by @uaw2865 who are facing disciplinary action through a student conduct process for engaging in a demo. Endorsed by our Faculty Association (SDFA), it is open to UC and non-UC faculty: forms.gle/4YGvcMkfjbRwUw…

.@UCSanDiego is trying to set a dangerous precedent by charging 59 students with physical assault & disruption for free speech expression. This is an attack on all student and worker groups in higher education. Sign on against this injustice: uc-uaw.jotform.com/231637145960862

Crazy stuff afoot here at @ucsandiego! University has charged 67 students (20 of whom were not even there!) with "physical assault & endangerment" of Chancellor Khosla, even though videos clearly show it to be a peaceful protest. This seems like unnecessary escalation.
