If you want to understand the history of passing in the NFL, this chart is a good place to start. 2020 was the highest completion percentage year ever (65.2%), and also the lowest Y/C year ever (11.1). Cmp% in BLUE against the LEFT Y-Axis. Y/C in RED against the RIGHT Y-Axis.
The Lions have the 11th best points differential through 10 games of any team since 1970.
The Jets have lost two games this season with a passer rating of over 110. The Jets lost one game the previous five years when that happened.
The Jets had 8 drives today where they did not gain a first down.

Jets bad in 2020, but can't blame Joe Douglas because he inherited Adam Gase. Jets bad in 2021, but not JD's fault because Jets were rebuilding. Jets bad in 2022, but can't blame JD because Zach Wilson is terrible. Jets bad in 2023, but not JD's fault beacuse Rodgers got hurt.
A list that soon to be 41-year-old Aaron Rodgers won't be joining this year.... QBs to start 10+ games and have a winning record at age 39 or older: (h/t @stathead)
Sam Darnold and Mac Jones have played each other two times. In those games, the QBs have combined to throw for 663 yards, with 1 TD, 9 INT, 2 lost fumbles, and 7 sacks.
From 2021 to 2023 -- the Zach Wilson era -- the Jets averaged 176 points and 2,103 passing yards during the first 10 games of the season. The 2024 Jets have scored 177 points and thrown for 2,117 passing yards during the first 10 games.
Joe Douglas should be embarrassed that the Jets are in no better shape than they were when he took over 5 years ago. Jets have a losing record in every season of his tenure and look to be a bottom 10 team next year, too.
Over his last 8 games, Lamar Jackson is averaging 10 yards per pass attempt with 22 TDs and 1 INT.
Lamar Jackson now has 4 games in his career with a perfect passer rating, minimum 15 attempts. He and Peyton Manning (also 4, including postseason) are the only two players to do so in NFL history.
Joe Douglas treated this “all in” season with no urgency. Jets are still not good enough for it to have mattered, but this should be a playoff team.
The trickle down impact of DA's presence on GW's production and Reddick's presence on Quinnen's production is exactly why there needed to be urgency to get these guys on the roster as early as possible (better late than never but this is a 5-4 team if handled in August...and…
The Jets defense had 8 sacks tonight, just the 2nd time in the last 35 years they had done that (also did it against the EJ Manuel Bills).
In the last 3 seasons, there have been just 3 games where a team threw 30+ passes and completed less than 36% of their passes. Houston tonight against the Jets in week 9 IND against Houston in week 8, 2024 BUF against Houston in week 5, 2024
C.J. Stroud completed just 43% of his passes in a game against the Jets last year and then has completed just 37% of his passes tonight. In every other game in his career, he's completed at least 45% of his passes.
Unbelievable!
The 6-2 Texans are 1.5 point underdogs against the 2-6 Jets.
Detroit Lions yesterday had 57.4% special teams DVOA, an estimated 17.9 points of special teams value over average by my model. That's the second-best ST game since 1979 behind only the Texans in Week 17 of 2007 vs. Jaguars. pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/2007…
