I wrote OUR FAMILY FARM for Oxford University Press @OUPPrimary about 9 year old Ama and her family's greenhouse farm in Ghana. Part of the Readerful Series, borrow it from your local library. Ask the library to get it if they don't have a copy. #Readerful #RaiseAReader

Watched the film Drift today about a young woman who's a Liberian refugee in Greece. What a poignant, heart-rending story with a powerful performance by Cynthia Erivo. Would highly recommend. Film based on novel A Marker to Measure Drift by Alexander Maksik.#driftmovie #driftfilm

Fatherhood in the Black community is thriving! Despite the rhetoric, many of us are active, engaged fathers, building generational wealth, sharing advice, and raising the next generation with purpose. From family days to school talks, we’re showing up and breaking stereotypes.

Went to see A Raisin in the Sun at the Lyric Theatre yesterday. Really enjoyed it. Fantastic performances from a very strong cast. Though the play was written in 1959, it still resonated today. Highly recommended. #araisininthesun

My #BlackHistoryMonthUK salute for today goes to Daphne Steele 👩🏾‍⚕️ The UK’s FIRST Black Matron in the NHS (1964). Before this, she worked locally at St James’ Hospital, which later went on to become part of St George’s Hospital. She arrived in England in 1951 from Guyana! 🇬🇾

I've purchased books based on a single tweet. It does matter.

This is a quick little reminder that if you like a book, especially a book that came out with a small press, review it on the internet! Say nice things about it online! It really does matter!

Reclaiming the narrative of African history is not just an academic exercise;it's a crucial endeavour that challenges outdated stereotypes and celebrates the continent’s rich heritage. By presenting a fuller more accurate story we honour Africa’s past & inspire future generations

In celebration of #BlackHistoryMonth, we're thrilled to delve into The Six Triple Eight, an upcoming film on Netflix. This powerful story highlights the heroic, yet often overlooked,6888 Central Postal Directory Battalion – an all-Black,all-female unit who made history during WWII
