Lidl, the German supermarket chain with 12,000 stores worldwide, is opening a branch on Grand and Clinton on the Lower East Side. The 23,000-square-foot space at 408 Grand St. previously housed a Rite Aid (and is across the street from Trader Joe's and Target).
There have been some unfounded rumors that Astor Place Hairstylists had closed, based on the renovations happening in the ground-floor storefront on the SE corner of Broadway and Astor Place. Yesterday, management put up a 'We Are Open' banner. Hours: Daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
