NYC Realignment: — Blacks (dark blue, declining) — Gentrifier Class (dark blue, increasing) — Affluent Whites (blue, static) — Latinos & South Asians (light blue, trending red, increasing) — Chinese (light red, trending redder, increasing) — White ethnics (solid red, declining)

A lot of NYC locals are coping by blaming gentrifiers. Habibi, gentrifiers in the Brooklyn and Queens waterfront neighborhoods are one of the reasons why it wasn’t a complete red blowout. Another hard truth: NYC’s Trump voters are white ethnic native New Yorkers and immigrants.

I woke up today in the same America but with a new realization about our work's urgency. If you despair over our city and country, if you don’t know your neighbors, join us in building better. My $ plea @epicenter_nyc and why local matters more now epicenter-nyc.com/now-what-the-r…

It looks like Kamala Harris will lose the largely Muslim south end of Dearborn, Michigan, where Joe Biden won 88 per cent of the vote in 2020. “That’s a bracing slide,” @vcunningham writes. nyer.cm/gPd7d8P

You can really tell who has 2016 trauma and who was too young to remember.

Some impressions from a polling site in Chinatown while reporting for @Documentedny: - the economy, crime and the migrant crisis were top of mind for voters - voters were disappointed with how Dems have handled the past 4 years - some switched from Dems to Republican this year

After years in this business, I'm pretty hardened. I've seen many horrors. But watching people being burned alive last night, stretching out their hands for help. A man in a hospital bed with an IV attached going up in flames. It felt like a new horror, akin to a vision of hell.

20 years ago, I wrote my first article for a student newspaper. Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined that one day I could become an editor in chief of an incredible, mission-driven new york city newsroom.

Documented is thrilled to welcome Ethar El-Katatney (@etharkamal) as our new Editor-in-Chief, and Lam Thuy Vo (@lamthuyvo) as a contributing investigative reporter. documentedny.com/2024/10/08/doc…

I’m beyond thrilled to be joining one of the most truly mission-centric organizations out there. Cannot wait to get started!

High-fiving @etharkamal as we both join @Documentedny, her as EIC and myself as a contributing investigative reporter. Love love love this institution and so glad to officially be part of it! documentedny.com/2024/10/08/doc…
