Athletes need to be strong first. Strong is relative to their sport. But once they hit an appropriate strength marker, then they can focus on all the other stuff you see online. People who say otherwise are probably selling something.
That is why I like the weightroom so much. Loading 95% of your 1 rep and doing it for singles or 70% and crank it out for sets of 12 is more or less mentally the same level of discomfort. If you can conquer that, you can take that mindset to the field.
One of the most underrated lessons learned in football is how to fight through pain. The ability to put that pain aside and battle for the person next to you is one of the most respectable traits I have seen!
