Keep wondering when Biden is going to come out and say ‘I would have won’. The suspense is killing me.

If you want to know where all the cool kids will be at the end of September, it definitely won’t be here: philevents.org/event/show/119…. But if you want to come and talk about the philosophy of language, this is the place.

What’s the proper function of language? Let’s find out: doi.org/10.1080/002017…

A short history of the Conservative Party backing the mob

Wondering how to actually go about doing that ‘non-ideal philosophy of language’ thing you keep hearing about? I have some thoughts: doi.org/10.1093/analys…

Come hang out in Amherst in September with a bunch of cool philosophers of language, and also me: philevents.org/event/show/119…

With some friends, I wrote a short thing on how algorithms (like the feed algorithm here) can manipulate us, even though they aren’t agents: blogs.cardiff.ac.uk/openfordebate/….

Last year, more than a dozen Hungarian civil society figures were targeted by undercover operatives who secretly tape recorded some of them during bogus job interviews. Now LinkedIn has alleged what many long suspected: the spies worked for Black Cube. reuters.com/technology/cyb…

Now that @ucu's Congress is back in person (it went online during Covid), union policy is set by about 300 of its 120,000 members who are prepared to spend all 3 days of the spring bank holiday weekend in a conference center somewhere in the UK.... 1/

The @ucu Congress #ukraine resolution was appalling, and wont reflect members' views. But rather than (at least performatively) thinking of leaving, we may be better considering our lack of interest in internal democratic processes that causes this kind of situation. #UCUrising

A very British coordination scheme.

The news that there had been a (bad) pay offer in the NHS pay dispute still gave rise to the almost inevitable cry of 'how are you going to pay for it?' from every journalist in the land. So, let's look at the answer to that question and others arising from this deal. A thread...

Liz Truss apparently added about £30 billion to the UK’s debt in her time in office. Which, if you take away the time spent mourning the queen, was about 30 days. So about £1 billion per day. Hilarious as she was, I’m not sure it was worth it.

Props to The Guardian for some pretty epic shade throwing here.

Never realized until today what an incredible long game the creators of Charles in Charge were playing. I mean, respect.

I really cannot tell which of these Tories is more the accelerationist candidate.

I just testified to @HouseIntel that the mercenary spyware industry undermines 🇺🇸national security. And fuels human rights abuses. The technology is proliferating rapidly, and I urged Congress to take action before more harm is done Beside me: @ShaneHuntley & @ckanimba 1/
