I'm thrilled to see this in print! This paper examines asset exemption laws (wage and asset protections for those with unsecured debt in default). I study how they vary across states and how protectiveness relates to state-level economic insecurity. 1/11 journals.uchicago.edu/doi/10.1086/72…

One glimmer of joy this week was that *two* students in my social problems class mistakenly wrote essays on “The Trolls of Uncertainty” by @SarahDamaske 😂

Quick thread 🧵: We’ve recently gotten a question about how we acquired the data for this paper, including submitting FOIA requests. If you’d like to learn more about that process, see: drive.google.com/file/d/13syVV8…

🚨NEW: In our @IMRjournal article, we use detailed demographic data from the Office of Refugee Resettlement obtained via FOI requests & litigation to provide a demographic profile of unaccompanied minors in ORR custody from Oct 2014 to March 2023. (1/x) doi.org/10.1177/019791…

The Texas abortion ban changed everything about their lives. At 19, Brooke is married and caring for her twins full-time, as she and her husband struggle to hold it all together. I wrote about Brooke and Billy last June. A lot has happened in a year. washingtonpost.com/politics/inter…

This is truly a fantastic study that I’ve wanted to cite or suggest to someone multiple times since I read an early draft!

So glad this paper is finally out in the world! onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…

Great new piece in the @NYTmag that references new work of mine.

@davon__norris "sought to understand...how [people] engage w/ their credit score. Black respondents, he found, 'feel their credit score exacts a significant psychological tax,' w/ higher levels of anxiety...White respondents were largely unaffected" nytimes.com/2023/06/07/mag…

Super thrilled to share my new article out in Population Research and Policy Review! I examine the association between multipartner fertility (MPF) and psychological distress. link.springer.com/article/10.100…

Wealth inequality in the U.S. is higher than any other rich country in the world. One in 10 households have no wealth or are actually in debt. To understand how #wealth is distributed among the rest of the population, watch our video: youtu.be/PAHYCiiXQlQ #inequality

I went to the DMV here in Ithaca today, and I’ve gotta say, it was so much better than any DMV (or equivalent) that I’ve been to in Florida, Ohio, North Carolina, or British Columbia. No line! Calm and quiet! Clear instructions! The workers didn’t even appear to be unhappy. 🥹
