As an energy markets nerd, I am always confused when I click on headlines about Amazon's RTO policy and realize they're about boring tech-world politics and have nothing to do with me.

This is an excellent thread - happy to have heard @ArushiSF at #dervos2024

PUCs: things people who practice in front of commissions: 1. Understaffed. Juniors get senior titles to draw them into the agencies. Makes up for low pay & crazy hours. 2. Many need tons of consultants because understaffed. Guidehouse, Synapse etc. & DOE Fellows- very valuable.

It's time to bring this up again. Most residential HVAC installs are abysmal. I know of one $100M company that has a 34% callback rate on new installs. That tells you that far more than that have issues. Efficiency standards have made equipment far more sensitive than it used…

If you are interested in an overview of Michigan energy policy, I will be speaking publicly on Friday for @winclimate 's speaker series. I will spend most of the talk discussing 2023 PA 233 and PA 235. bit.ly/sb-eli

Why is it so easy to transfer ownership of a utility account without clear proof of residence or property ownership? It simplifies transferring utility obligations between renters, but it seems odd and rife for abuse.

While this may be good from the standpoint of rapid resource development, it may not bode well for community acceptance, as larger projects tend to be seen less favorably by their local neighbors - emp.lbl.gov/publications/p…

One of the most important trends in clean energy is the rise of *very* big solar projects. 10 years ago the biggest projects could power a few thousand homes. Today, the biggest projects can power 100,000+ homes. 🧵 distilled.earth/p/the-rise-of-…

My recap of Order 1920 is now up in the form of a 3-part series of threads! Links in comments ⤵️ #energytwitter

Update: made it through the main body of the rule, minus appendices, concurrences, and dissents! Took some high level notes on content and questions/concerns I have. Thread on my thoughts to come… 😮‍💨

But has @Wendys considered hourly matched carbon-free electricity with bundled RECs, enrolling all their stores in TOU rates and net metering by installing rooftop PV, and adjusting the price of their burger to reflect the real-time marginal emissions factor of the grid 🤔

I don't get excited about most new energy tech, but this is exciting, I hope it's as useful as it seems!

1/We @fervoenergy are excited to announce our new geothermal drilling results. We have achieved a 70% YoY reduction in drilling times, dramatically outpacing predictions, and are poised to unleash a new wave of geothermal decades ahead of schedule. THREAD. fervoenergy.com/fervo-energy-d…

Looking at the new edition of @EPA's State Inventory Tool, and I am glad to have it. But, can someone explain the heavy use of Comic Sans?
