When he first got a job as a designer for Ralph Lauren, he sketched out some outerwear he wanted to make through the company. He added all the details he liked from his favorite pieces: epaulets, bellow pockets, half belt, Prussian collar, turnback cuffs, etc.

Why? A few reasons. The biggest one is that the customer is not always in the best position to design their own clothing. I'm reminded of a story I once heard from Antonio Ciongoli, founder of 18 East.
