I just found out that the police in Brazil have been murdering black leaders, at least 40 black leaders have been executed since 2017. 60,000 Afro-Brazilians die each year, victims of hunger and violence. This is an ethnic cleansing that is not being televised internationally.
We have more history than 1833. Yeah I get the point, but it's a limited point.

History education in high school is not designed to train students in the actual discipline of history, but rather to socialize them into the national project. In our case, that means the white supremacist settler colonial project. If we don't contest it, we perpetuate it.
