Thing is, I don’t want to dismiss or malign these folks. In reality, I don’t spend a lot of my time thinking about these people. The issue is that some not insignificant amount of these voters sees a country that values people like me in my entirety as a problem.
I cannot stress this enough: you can’t dismiss ~70-80 million Trump voters as a monolith of rubes, idiots, racists, misogynists, homophobes, and fascists.
i keep seeing tales like "progressive policy is unpopular/popular" on lots of sides but i think it's more complicated than that. California voted against rent control & min wage increase while Missouri voted for min wage increase. there's something bigger going here.
