Our hearts are with the families and community of Winder, Georgia as our nation reels from yet another tragic school shooting. Our actions need to be there too. We must do everything in our power to keep students and educators safe.
A Rome native and Rome High graduate. Had a wife and two young kids. Died trying to save students by getting them out of the hallway and into his classroom. Just so sad. Guy is a hero.
Per sources: Richard Aspinwall is one of the teachers that was pronounced dead in the Apalachee High School shooting. Aspinwall was the Wildcats’ defensive coordinator and was on staff at Gwinnett’s Mountain View for a number of years. Please pray for his wife and two girls🙏
So to sum this up, his 13 year old was questioned by the FBI and visited by local law enforcement for threatening a school shooting, and the fathers response was to months later buy him “the” gun that carried out the school shooting!

Those brave babies in Georgia had to drag their teacher’s body out from the hallway back into the classroom and barricade themselves inside while waiting for help and also try and perform trauma care. The teacher died right in front of them waiting for help.

This thread will be dedicated to the victims of the Apalachee High School shooting. Mason Schermerhorn, 14 His sister had circulated photos of him on social media when family couldn’t contact him. Because he was autistic, they thought he might have wandered off. 💔
I am so heartbroken for the kids at Apalachee High School. I hope they are provided with the resources they need to process their grief/trauma.
