still wrapping my head around just how grandiose Horizon (at least its first chapter) truly is -- nobody is making movies on this scale right now, it's Costner's Cimino movie, not only in its breadth but in its seeming contention for the conventions of genre; truly rousing
HORIZON: CHAPTER 1 -- less "incomplete" than elliptical in ways bold and beguiling. costner conveys the promise of the west almost as malady, its tacit barbarism turning even innocents into tragic actors of 'progress'. Fordian as fuck, but especially Wagon Master. Breathtaking.

I am more than thrilled to say that Costner’s Horizon: An American Saga did not disappoint me, even if it’s just one piece of the 4 piece pie. It is sweeping, involving, and romantic in its depiction of the western expansion. Let Costner cook. Cannot wait for part 2 to expand it.
