One thing in modern DJ parenting they don't tell you about is keep your kids away from your cue points
To "Dj" at the highest level is the same as playing piano, guitar, flute etc. The difference is people approach those instruments with reverence immediately. It's obvious they require extreme practice. A laptop, mixer, controllers not make a fully formed DJ. Takes a DECADE.

The reason online DJ debates are so played out is because there are so many factors to each individual's situation that there are no UNIVERSAL correct (or wrong) answers. The main thing it comes down to: READ THE ROOM. Job #1. What are the factors of the room you're in?
Just because you can play a lot of different genres doesn't make you an "open format DJ". Just because you are an "open format DJ" doesn't mean you know how to play a lot of genres.
