I talk about this a lot but there's a big difference between nice and kind. Nice doesn't say anything negative, and nothing changes. Kind is giving constructive feedback knowing the designer poured their self into the work, but it needs to improve regardless. Hire kind people.

So @statuskwoh did a thing, and I'm on it! A podcast where you can hear directly from founders building game companies, learn about their stories, and find insightful perspectives on the industry and startups. He's such a charming host! Give it a listen: foundersquest.podbean.com

Our CFO David: "I'm not a creative guy at all, I'm just a bean counter." 10m later, solves one of our game system problems with a genius, far out idea.

As a tiny #gamedev studio, we strongly believe that everyone should be encouraged to participate and contribute anywhere in the process, even if it’s not your area of expertise. It’s a great way to learn and expand your understanding of game development as a whole.

Hey, I worked very hard on my visio skills to make this drawing.

Look at this beautiful illustration 👀 of how our company structure is more like a tree than a pyramid. This is high level #gamedev!

the diff between the first pre-seed pitch deck and our seed round deck is -13 +13 👀

Iteration is a huge part of #gamedev. If you’re also a #startup like us, you learn very quickly that the first thing you need to iterate on is the pitch deck. So, before you get comfortable with your preferred engine, get comfortable with Powerpoint. 📊📈

Mental health advocacy is important. @TakeThisOrg is a non-profit in #gamedev that does just that, and they need your help.

We shared the news with our close community yesterday, and now we’re sharing with the public: Take This will shut its doors before the end of the year if we can’t secure funding. @TheeDoctorB ‘s bittersweet and transparent blog post has the details. takethis.org/2024/08/take-t…

Boggles my mind how many I meet haven't seen Soul because they heard through the grapevine it wasn't good, but can't remember who said that. Wild guesses in 3... 2... If you haven't seen Soul you owe it to yourself to see that fantastic movie about some fundamental life truths.

I know everyone is talking shit about the Borderlands movie, but I honestly think that if you want a fun, post-apocalyptic action film with a cast of memorable characters and a fascinating would you should give Demolition Man a watch.

Sometimes I find it inspiring to watch other people work on their own #gamedev, or talk about stuff I might be able to use in my own! Like this video from @UnrealEngine! youtube.com/live/mhVp_cC9M…

Here's a thread of linked posts from people affected by the recent Bungie layoffs who indicate they are *actively* looking/reaching out for industry jobs. I did this back in October for those affected by the layoffs then, and I'd like to think it helped some. There’s not much…

Sometimes, the best #gamedev inspiration comes from examples of what NOT to do. Like whatever this is! (ty @Jauwnio) youtube.com/watch?v=y7zMpz…

No matter what kind of game you are making, if you take the core mechanic and make it amazing, you're already ahead of the competition. Here is a great example of that! #gamedev youtube.com/watch?v=Sl7XM2…

Let's talk light! Lighting makes a huge difference in level design. Here's a great article on getting the science of lighting right in #gamedev. 80.lv/articles/break…
