People need to be voting for @davidmeatesfor1 (David Meates), otherwise Ōtautahi Christchurch will be destroyed. Never has a local election been as critical as this one.

We need to restore trust in the Council; ensure that our city has visibility to decisions & have confidence that conflicts are being managed appropriately. This is why it’s vital that you vote.

“CCHL is the jewel in the Christchurch City Council crown. It must be protected at all costs.”

A leading mayoral candidate (@davidmeatesfor1) says the council should appoint a former board chair at CCHL, Bruce Irvine, to help provide stability at the holding company, which has been rocked by revelations about its outgoing CEO @businessdesk_nz businessdesk.co.nz/article/mayora…

On housing intensification, Meates says intensification needs to happen in Christchurch but the proposed solution will result in a scattergun approach. Mauger says the main thing he's getting pushback on is the 3x 3-storey housing approach.

Asked what he can do for young people in Christchurch, Mauger says he wants to regain people's trust in council. Asked if there is a specific policy for young people, he only says with all the new facilities it's going to be "the humming place to be".

Meates says what he has noticed in the younger generation is a fear about climate change. He wants to see more regenerative planting become a feature of the city.

Corin Dann asked what candidate Phil Mauger can offer to an 18-year-old voting for the first time. He says he would make Christchurch a better place to live, work and play.

Meates highlights the importance of climate change and says the number one issue coming through for him from young people is climate change. Asked what he would do to reduce emissions, Meates says he wants more regenerative planting as a feature of the city centre.

In order to cap rate rises at 3%, substantial cuts to operational and capital budgets would be required. Somewhere across the city, someone is not going to get the footpath repair that they've been promised. Here’s a good write up of last night’s Chamber debate.

One says trim the budget back to what is realistic, while another wants to explore other creative funding options. dlvr.it/SZ3cl8

Thank you to everyone who stands up for our city & our future. We’ve declared an emergency; but we’re currently not behaving like there is one. Let’s make sure we prioritise climate action this local election. #UpTheVote2022

Trust & confidence needs to be rebuilt within CCC.Underpinning the development of any culture is trust. Trust builds confidence […] if you’re missing those two, it really doesn’t matter what you promise as a mayor, it’s not going to happen. @NewsroomNZ google.com/amp/s/www.news…
