Alberta Court of KB moving one step closer to a “rocket docket”. Under new pilot project, litigants can request a trial date shortly after pleadings are closed instead of waiting years for all pre-trial steps to conclude. A move in the right direction! t.ly/wZz51

LAWYERS: 50% of disputes can be solved with a phone call. 25% percent with a coffee. The remaining 25% is an actual dispute.

Long summary judgment motions are being scheduled in Feb 2025 in Toronto. Total insanity.

LAWYERS!!! A notice of motion should be NO MORE THAN 15 paragraphs in total. Fight me. I assure you, that is a hill I am prepared to die on.

I used Calendy to book a regular motion in Brampton (they switched to Calendy on May 1, 2023). It has been helpful. If a date has limited time slots, it is easy to find a range of later dates that are generally available.

Has anyone tried scheduling a short motion using the Toronto ONSC’s calendly function: calendly.com/toronto-region? Seems almost too good to be true. I live in fear that someone will figure out that it is accessible and efficient and immediately shut it down.

My @AirCanada flight was canceled a few weeks ago and I had to come back to the airport the next day for the flight. I applied for compensation online. It took me 5 mins and I expected to get the run-around. To my surprise, they emailed me $1000 within a few days. Impressed!
