"Cal" (UC Berkeley) is not the flagship university in the UC System. That is a common lie peddled by Northern Californians. The flagship is UCLA

Why has New York State never developed a UT/Cal/Michigan style state flagship university

North Carolina is a state that consistently elects Democrats for Governor but is so egregiously gerrymandered that GOP has near supermajority in state legislature. Partisan gerrymandering is poisonous to democracy.

Great news out of North Carolina: Democratic Justice Allison Riggs now narrowly leads after trailing by 10,000 votes after election night. Some uncounted votes remain & a recount looms, but Riggs winning would give Dems a much better chance to win back NC’s Supreme Court by 2028

It was a tough election for democracy advocates, but one silver lining was the creation of new independent redistricting commissions in Los Angeles - one for City Council and one for LAUSD. Here's how it happened in today's Gerrymander Gazette! commoncause.org/articles/gerry…

Why do we want voters to vote yes on Measure DD and LL? Because we believe in power to the people, not political maneuvering. It is time for independent individuals to draw our city maps that are representative of OUR needs. Vote YES on Measure DD and LL to make your voice heard!

Citi Field is gonna be LOUD & COLD. Ohtani ain’t gonna be ready for either of those things. Gonna be windy and like 45 degrees in the late innings with some absolute LUNATICS in his face. This ain’t LA! This ain’t San Diego!

Why do we need an independent citizens redistricting commission? Because the Ohio Redistricting Commission comprised of elected officials repeatedly drew gerrymandered voting districts! VOTE YES ON 1 ✅ youtube.com/watch?v=SgUe1G…

Anderson, IN hadn't drawn new maps since 1982. But yesterday, thanks to the work of @CommonCauseIN a federal court ruled that the City Council’s failure to draw fair council maps violates the U.S. Constitution, and fair maps must be drawn! commoncause.org/indiana/articl…

The Senate is now going to debate the constitutional amendment that would overturn the Utah Supreme Court ruling in the anti-gerrymandering case and make clear they can repeal or amend any ballot initiative.

War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength. Ending gerrymandering is…gerrymandering. @CatherineTurcer of @CommonCauseOhio accurately calls out the Ballot Board hearing on Ohio’s @CitizenMapsOH initiative as Orwellian. cbsnews.com/pittsburgh/new…

If you're wondering why Republicans, Independents and Democrats are so angry with politicians — and so ready to vote #YesOn1 to kick them out of the map-making process — it's days like today.
