I love that spawn Astarion actually cringed when you told him "I promise I'll keep you safe always. You'll never need the power of an Ascendant." That's self-aware writing. That line is strange but I find it helpful in debunking the pookie-fication of spawn Astarion.
Imagine bg3 having veilguard style group therapy after each day. You sit Astarion & Minthara down and go "Now now, tell us what you did wrong. What did we learn today?" I don't think Tav would make it out alive after the first session. Hilarious to imagine nonetheless.

They put crack in that vampire. Aside from that, bg3 is like The Sims of crpg. With mods, the possibilities are endless. You can make anyone, set up any scene, create any story. Because bg3 is so friendly to imagination, it lives long beyond its canon storyline.
