Suffolk coast exile in Newark, Notts. Part-time birder, full-time beardy. Nowadays more often looking at trees than the birds in them.

Which side are you on? Add your name to the petition calling on the UK government to ban the use of pesticides on the streets, parks and playgrounds of our villages, towns and cities. pesticidecollaboration.org/go-pesticide-f… #GoPesticideFree

Real issue is building next to trees. Give trees the space they need with Root Protection Areas. Avoidable situation when village hall was built that needn't have resulted in loss of open grown trees @BBCEssex @WoodlandTrust @AdamCormack_ @ArbAssociation www-bbc-co-uk.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/www.bbc.co…

Great day at @RSPBSherwood y'day on Thinking Arbs visit with Ted Green, Reg Harris, Jill Butler, Luke Steer, Lou Hackett, Izi Banton, Paul Cook and others. Always more to learn seeing and talking about ancient and veteran trees - if only the trees could answer our questions ...

Back in Sherwood Forest for day 15 of #30DaysWild and the beetling was unbelievable! Couldn’t pick between Hazel Pot Beetle and Oak Jewel Beetle (3 of them!), so it’s a tie for beetle of the day.

I’m extremely grateful to have the endorsement of so many members & residents in Newark, and from our wider movement. They know Newark deserves an MP who will work hard for them and be their voice in Westminster. Thank you to these amazing community champions for backing me.

A good day for scarce butterflies in Notts in the sunshine today. 2 Grizzled Skippers at traditional site south of Newark this morning (no 📷 ). Then a Green Hairstreak at Bestwood CP in afternoon. Managed a phone photo creeping up on it.

Here for you this #thicktrunktuesday is a huge old oak needing a little help to keep it together. The deadwood habitat in its hollowing trunk is so valuable, supporting a column of little lives. @keeper_of_books @cornishca @artypartyco #chatsworth

Here for you this #thicktrunktuesday is a living sculpture of oak, stone and moss, found on a Derbyshire hillside last week. Living and non living forms in a slow dialogue. @keeper_of_books @cornishca @Lou_Hackett

Took me 2.5 hours to find the Great Grey Shrike on RSPB Budby South Forest this afternoon, but always worth searching for a shrike. Eventually showed well 4.30 to 4.37 pm in the triangle before flying off N. I do wonder what it finds to eat on the heath in winter.
