I went to Grad School because it was a requirement of my Certification for my job as a Teacher. That doesn’t make my student loans any easier to pay, though; especially after 20 years of teaching in a an urban, high needs district as a Special Education Teacher smh

“What we hear from women is oftentimes, I went to grad school because I needed to make up for the gender pay gap. Or, I went because I’m a woman of color, and I’m often paid less” @sabrina_cal tells @TIME that women will be hurt if debt relief is blocked. time.com/6291068/studen…

Using test scores to determine school quality creates a negative feedback loop that harms more students than it helps. Excited to see Chicago taking a more holistic approach to school assessment that lessens the emphasis on rankings and ratings. dianeravitch.net/2023/05/02/132…

Teachers, whether you plant the seeds or water them, you are impacting the lives of your students. Many of your students will think back on you years later, maybe even after you are gone and smile and remember you made a difference! Never forget your impact!

Students shouldn't be the only reason a teacher stays, but admin should be a reason too! Support, encouragement, praise, and appreciation help create a culture where your staff can thrive.

While the principal is the thermostat, the culture of a school is created by everyone in the school. Walk in a school and see how the front office staff talks and interacts or the staff /teachers in the hallway. Everyone is ultimately responsible for a positive school culture.

Yes, students need rules, but even more so, they need routines, boundaries, high expectations, and responsibilities. The first doesn't require relationships, just enforcement, but the rest depend on a strong relationship to be effective.

Teacher Hierarchy of Needs

Police ensure the “scene is safe” for any first responder. Mental health professionals are also in this category. This is a dangerous idea!

Supporters of a proposed law named after Daniel Prude are calling for a measure that would have EMTs and mental health professionals respond to someone in a mental health crisis, not police officers

Question we all want to know: Is the 90 between Roc and Buf open and safe to drive? (I’m in Jamestown and need to get back to Amherst, thinking if taking the long way around is possible)

In our comment, we urge @usedgov to make permanent the short-term changes under the PSLF Waiver, & to extend student loan cancellation after 10 years to all public service workers, regardless of their employer, loan type, or payment plan. The PSLF promise should be that simple!

Superintendents who focus on the needs of their admin, teachers, and staff are building powerful team cultures. Just Iike rivers are fed from upstream so are schools. Thank you servant leaders.

No school should be better known for the blood that was shed in its classrooms than the curriculum that is taught there. We need to reinstate the assault weapons ban. Raise the age to buy firearms to 21. Mandate a federal red flag program nationwide. Now.

So true

As the teacher shortage worsens, the priority of school districts should be taking care of teachers and staff. Without them there will be no school for children to attend.
