Today is the 8th anniversary of the tram derailment at Sandilands, a tragic moment in Croydon’s history which affected so many people, and one we will never forget. All our thoughts are with the victims’ family & friends and the communities impacted, especially New Addington.

We aren’t ending friendships over politics, we’re ending friendships over morals. There is a huge difference.

Wonderful being out on the streets of Waddon tonight. Fly-tipping a big issue again - we’ll continue fighting to ensure Waddon’s public realm is kept clean and tidy!

Have your say on the future of Croydon's North End Quarter when URW (Westfield) commences consultation on its Masterplan Framework from 12 November. There'll be public events in the Urban Room at the Whitgift Centre and an online survey. Details at: urwcroydon.com

I know people are leaving Twitter, but the algorithms also seem to be mysteriously (or not so mysteriously) working against some of us. I know that some followers of mine have somehow automatically unfollowed me (without them doing that), and that my posts are hidden or buried. I…

We're delighted that our campaign to save Nightwatch from the threat of legal action by the council has succeeded. Tonight, Deputy Mayor Hale embarrassingly conceded that the council will NOT take legal action against them. What a disgrace that it was ever suggested!

Last night I challenged Mayor Perry about his council’s threat of legal action against @WeAreNightwatch He failed to provide any response at all - embarrassment? Ill prepared? Indifferent? Councillors from all parties value the great work done by Nightwatch. Does the Mayor?

I hope the people of Croydon go out in their droves to see Adam Pearson, Addiscombe's finest actor since David Prowse, in his new movie, a Different Man. Oscar Contender? shorturl.at/vHgu2

Croydon’s charities & volunteers are great reasons to be proud of our borough. Why does Tory mayor Perry keep making their lives harder?

Residents may be aware that the electricity/lighting has failed in the Whitgift underpass (Wellesley Road). I have reported this to @yourcroydon officers and cc’d @CllrScottRoche, asking that it be fixed urgently given that it’s a matter of public safety. Reference MEM/34192.

The Mayor just decided to close four of our libraries. Residents oppose it, community groups oppose it, Labour councillors oppose it.

Despite huge public opposition, tonight @CroydonTories voted to close 4 libraries. 🤬 At the same mtg we heard they are a staggering £24m overspent on their budget already. 😖 Mayor Perry & the Tories aren't listening to Croydon and they aren't fixing the finances.

Dispiriting events at Reading should concern everyone in English football. Fans are lied to, players and an impressive manager are let down, and so are staff. A thoughtless, heartless owner damages a historic club. It’s another warning to all in football. If we tolerate this,…

Since the election, we’ve dealt with hundreds of cases raised by people in Croydon East. It’s good to start getting positive outcomes like this one. If you’d like to raise an issue with me and need support please email natasha.irons.mp@parliament.uk

This is absolutely unacceptable. A constituent from another flat in the block has been in touch with me. I was appalled to hear how many things have gone wrong. I've been representing them to the management agency Urban Bubble ⬇

🚨Thinking of buying or renting a New Build home? I’ve visited one. It’s falling apart. Residents moved into this Croydon block in 2022. This is the state of it now … Pls #RT 🙏🏽

On a course today. Coffee machine in the training room flashed up ‘Enjoy’ and just like that I’m transported back to when I was 12 reading about Arthur Dent ordering tea and the Nutri-matic machine saying ‘Share and enjoy.’

A thought-provoking piece for those of us who are privileged enough to be able to order whatever drink we want without being judged or second-guessed (or worse) on the basis of our gender. metro.co.uk/2024/08/29/im-…

On Friday, I caught the train from Exeter to London, with the aim of working from the office before heading off for a weekend with Scouts. As I was looking for a seat, a gentleman was walking through the aisle towards me, so I moved out of the aisle to allow him to pass. 1/11

A potential increase in fares and a reduction in flexibility could penalise passengers, especially when plans change. We need a fairer, more transparent approach to rail travel, not one that makes it harder for people to use trains. #LNER

People outside the club expected us to lose Olise, Guehi & Eze. Some would add Mateta & Wharton to that. So far we’ve lost one of those 5. If we lose Guehi we’ll replace him quickly. Keeping players is more important than signing players.

💵❌ Only Manchester City and Liverpool have spent less than Crystal Palace this summer. How do you think Palace have performed in the transfer market?

I went to see ‘Skeleton Crew’ at the Donmar with @ravseeruthun this evening. It’s excellent - well written, well acted, well produced. Not long left in the run so get there before it closes if you can!

Less than two weeks left to see "funny, humane, deeply moving drama" SKELETON CREW (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Financial Times) Book tickets now bit.ly/3X7mJOP
