The central culture-shaping image of the Middle Ages was the Crucifix (dead Jesus) one of my hobbies is imagining a culture whose central image is Resurrection: Jesus victorious over corruption, death, oppression—Jesus defying death; Jesus promising Life. What would be different?

It's so silly that it's considered bad form to start a sentence with a conjunction.

Love it in theory. Tough thing is that you basically can't get a charge call without embellishing.

Sources: The NBA’s Competition Committee is discussing potential of in-game penalty for flops that would result in technical foul free throw. Trial is possible at Summer League in July.

If the resurrection is true, then everything’s going to be alright.

It reveals how little we Christians actually believe that Christ conquered sin and death on the cross when we treat our religion like a war that hasn’t been won rather than a work of compassion and treat the world as an enemy to be conquered rather than a neighbor to be loved.

Let's Go! Now, all we have to do is write a dissertation.

I passed my proposal defense today! The PhD committee at Wheaton College approved my dissertation plan (with some revisions), and I can start researching this summer. So grateful to my advisor @esaumccaulley and my second reader @AubreyBuster Congrats to @cgow10 who also passed.

I'm just a first year student, but I want to say that I have the utmost respect for Dr. Peeler. I would be thrilled to be half the scholar that she is. Her exceeding kindness makes her an even greater gift to the church. Do yourself a favor; buy her book and read it for yourself.

It seems to me like we’ve underrated Dora the Explorer. A Latina woman working in the hard sciences, conserving the earth, *while deterring theft.* Trailblazer.

Chicago winter may be rough, but there’s no substitute for Spring that coincides with Easter. It genuinely feels like the earth is celebrating

The challenge of (and to) hope. It reminds me a bit of the Flannery O’Connor line (and @SteveTaylorTPF song) “It’s harder to believe than not to.” Grateful for these wise and challenging words from @esaumccaulley

Most people don’t know this.

when someone is about to drive away, instead of “drive safe!” try saying “dont forget the Prince of Egypt soundtrack” because a lot of people forget to listen to it

“The resurrection…is hope which focuses on the future in order to make us refuse to tolerate present inequities. To see the future of God, as revealed in the resurrection of Jesus is to see also the contraction of any earthly injustice in Jesus Christ.” — James Cone
