Update on the 2024-2025 school year calendar: Schools will now be closed on Monday, December 23, 2024, extending Winter Recess for NYC Public Schools through January 1, 2025. (Shoutout to Isaac, the middle-schooler who helped make this a reality!) schools.nyc.gov/calendar

Congratulations Isaac on your successful advocacy. @sethlow96 @D21_Community

Had a very important call to make today! A New Yorker had a great idea, and we're making it happen. 8th grader Isaac brought up an excellent point that winter break should start one day earlier. Now, @NYCSchools students will have 12 STRAIGHT DAYS of vacation, instead of seven.

Thank you to our @sethlow96 student Isaac Regnier for advocating for all students and staff. December 23rd @NYCSchools will be closed for winter recess.

Thanks to our advocacy and 7th-grader Isaac Regnier’s gutsy petition, which had nearly 23,000 signatures, we have come to an agreement with the DOE that this year’s winter recess will begin on Monday, Dec. 23.

A change in the way the state funds after-school programs has left a number of local community organizations unable to run their typical afternoon programs — and with the first day of school less than 24 hours away, parents are still scrambling for options.

More #SummerEBT benefits are coming in August! 🥦 Most @nycschool families who get free and reduced lunch are eligible to receive $120 per child. Summer EBT can be used just like SNAP benefits to buy food at SNAP-authorized stores. Learn more @nysotda: otda.ny.gov/programs/summe…
