Preach @catchingbreaths "Have you ever seen a plus size section in Target for men?” I asked a friend the other day. “I mean, I know they have the occasional Big & Tall stores, but your plus sizes are integrated right into the same section" cysticfibrosisnewstoday.com/2021/07/27/war… #cysticfibrosis

This Tweet is of CRITICAL importance. My sister gifted me @RodanFieldsHQ eyelash serum & it is the best thing EVER. Now, I’m running out & can’t ever afford new (= medical debt/critically ill patient). I don’t want to waste $ I don’t have on a #dupe... Do any work? #help

Reminder: Deafness is NOT responsible for Deaf kids language deprivation & delay. Lack of consistently FULL access to a complete language from 0-5y IS. That’s a issue that CAN be addressed #deafchildren #deafeducation #languagedeprivation #bilingualchildhood #SignLanguageForAll

This wildly happy @SaraBareilles diehard just curled up to watch #Girls5eva to find that the captions don’t work at all on the series (but do on others). @peacockTV, Sara has brilliantly Deaf and magical fans too. Super genuinely sad. Fix this?

Speaking of, you should check out @catchingbreaths & @company360 on IG! We’re a pro dance co & the founder/director/choreo is a talented badass momma w/CF & started a sister company, ComeBacks, for people like me who used to dance but had to stop due to illness/disability 🥰🩰

If you’re feeling sad and hopeless about the world right now (or every other day, like me), watch @amyschumer Learns To Cook. It’s happy relaxing happy times, save for redundant adjectives. She’s also endlessly in love with her husband, which is endlessly lovely

Spreading that word!!! 💋

@catchingbreaths The Disabled Artist Networking Community @DANC_UK have teamed up with Stopgap Dance to run a series of sessions online, we want to connect with more Deaf and Disabled Dancers, Intro session 29th April 2pm eventbrite.co.uk/e/stopgap-danc… #bsl #disability Pls share

Me as a hearing person understanding how hard it must be to be #deaf once we became friends like 👁👄👁

Another trending app that’s based only on sound: Quilt. At the risk of being the whiny #Deaf girl, why do we continue to develop audio-only media over and over? Meditation apps. Podcasts. Now the latest clubhouse style trends......

The concept of #Clubhouse seems cool (especially since Ive been encouraging my kid to celebrate only having a landline lately), but it’s yet another only-auditory based digital media. Much like podcasts, which I wish I could partake in, it completely isolates the #Deaf

I feel like I debate being a retro fashion model and growing a black flower garden and adopting all the cats in all the land (but also bats because they get such a bad rep too? Is that a thing?) and saving the bees and doing more watercolors like 40x a day. Then I don’t.

“you’re deaf? how do you listen to music” ummmm hearing aids exist? CIs exist? people feel the beats? we memorize the lyrics? there’s different ways, just because we don’t don’t listen to it the exact same way you do doesn’t mean we can’t listen to and experience music

“you talk so well for a deaf person!” not every deaf person has a deaf accent and most deaf accents are understandable so you’re just being flat out rude here.

This thread articulates what I have always known. Acting talent aside, performative hearingness is a huge reason why certain deaf actors succeed in the industry more than others. A lot of it is the writing. And a lot is making hearing people comfortable in the presence of you.

My chapter with @DeafHistorian drops tomorrow. To celebrate, I am doing a twitter thread in the style of @MobileDeaf and @mdemeulder

Finding Kenan the show (@kenanthompson) has been refreshing after a lifetime of loathing the laugh track sitcom crud that exists. I can watch it with my girls. It depicts a good Dad (rare). And... well, and Gary.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but I don’t know who needs to hear this.
