In 2023, 17.5% of 16,424 perpetrators were workplace-related, followed by acquaintances(13.7%) classmates(12.6%) and family(9.7%). Deepfake abuse cases showed about 85% of perpetrators were colleagues or acquaintances. These incidents lead to fear and a loss of trust in society
