Today it has been reported that during our first round of action in England mortality rate was 11.1% above the 5 year average. What they haven’t reported was that in Wales, where no strike action took place, mortality rate was 14% above the 5 year average. 1/3
🔴 Junior doctors have been accused of putting “politics above patient safety” as figures showed excess deaths almost tripled after their strikes. telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/04/1…
‘They expect you to have nothing else in your life. No family, no other responsibilities, no hobbies, no life. They expect you to drop everything.’ I spoke to junior doctors about why they're on strike this week. tribunemag.co.uk/2023/03/bleedi…
And… Read this article if you dare “Hunt spent £1.4bn on NHS redundancies - then spent £3.9bn filling the gaps with temporary agency staff in the NHS – tripling costs in just 3 years” And of course, the private firms that cleaned up are Tory-linked. opendemocracy.net/en/ournhs/tory…
this is what happens when you don’t recycle your pizza boxes
There’s out of touch and then there’s a millionaire asking a homeless man in a homeless shelter if he’s in financial services
Mick Lynch, like all senior @RMTunion officials donate their salaries (which are decided by RMT members) on strike dates to the dispute fund. You can donate too; rmt.org.uk/about/national…
Hello Mick Lynch are you happy with yourself bringing the country and ordinary people down on their knees over Xmas. You don't fool me waiting for the employers to come to table. You love the publicity.Your members would like to earn what you get.Why don't you waive your salary.
Pay for MPs up 28% since 2008 Pay for finance sector up 31% since the start of COVID 19 pandemic. Pay for nurses down 20% since 2010. Solidarity with @theRCN today.
Nurses, ambulance workers, rail workers, postal workers, teachers are not the enemies of the people. They are the people. In many cases the best of the people. This government narrative is vile.
An irresponsible act that has nothing to do with the cost of living crisis, Ukraine war, pandemic, Brexit or any other excuse you might hear. It has to do with only one thing: the power of the food industry lobby. This is #CDoH writ large. We see you - both sides...
1/ The govt is delaying the 9pm ban on TV & online junk food advertising until Oct 2025. This is an attack on improving child health from a govt that seems to care more about its own short-term political health than the longer-term health of children. This is an #AttackonHealth
People saying “NHS staff knew the pay when they took the job, if they don’t like it they should leave” have no plan for what to do when that actually happens. Spoilers: it’s already started
“The King has asked me to become Prime Minister because this nonsense has gone on long enough.”
Liz Truss has just asked me to become Chancellor. I told her to clean up her own mess.
This is fucking stupid. The purpose of COVID vaccines are first and foremost to reduce the severity of infection and risk of hospitalisation and death. That’s what these vaccines were tested for because it’s what matters most. They passed those tests with flying colours.🧵
