A good thing about diabetes is that no one will steal my phone because it fucking beeps every 5 seconds

I would not be at all surprised if this has happened at my workplace but I don’t know about it (that is, if someone asked my boss, I’m 99% sure they’d defend my right to wear a mask and wouldn’t tell me anyone had asked.)

Someone at my job was so embarrassed that I did a presentation in my mask that they asked higher ups if they could ask me to remove mine//replace me as a speaker at a conference. The ridiculousness is asinine.

Let’s normalize masking again 🫶🏽❤️ I have an MPH, I live with a chronic illness, and I’ve read the studies. Repeat covid infections is something I definitely do not want.

In May 1921, Fredrick Banting met his research assistant Charles Best in John Macleod's lab to begin their experiments with insulin. In January 1922, the first person received an insulin injection. By 1923, insulin was commercially available. Banting and Macleod received the 1923…

#T1D isn’t a battle to win or lose – it’s a part of us, a lifelong companion that shapes who we are. When we call ourselves ‘fighters,’ we cast it as an enemy. On #WDD and beyond, let’s embrace resilience, not resistance – until the day a cure finds us. 💙 #LanguageMatters

When I tell people I've had #type1diabetes for 50+ years, they say "oh, you must have it totally under control." I say no, it changes every minute of every day. Fave moment: At dinner, a friend of >30 years said "wow, I never realized before how hard this must be for you." 🥲

Got told today “but now it’s easy” To those who say, “Well, at least you’re used to it”: #Diabetes isn’t something you get used to. It’s constant vigilance, adapting to every curveball your blood sugar throws. It’s invisible work, every day. Notice!! #DiabetesAwareness

COVID truly opened my eyes to the fact that people are truly selfish pricks. The US election just cemented it.

In the 1970’s, my dentist wouldn’t even clean my teeth without prescribing me a course of antibiotics (because I have type 1 diabetes) and while I don’t have IBD, I wonder how much that has contributed to my GI issues now.

Preordered this and just picked it up from my local independent bookstore today.

My husband is rocking the Cossack look for Halloween if I do say so myself. He insisted on scowling in the first photo because he said it was in character.

Having to stay at a job because you have a chronic medical condition and need the health care coverage sucks.

Love her even more after reading these excerpts.

I have long loved Piper & Paul and I think “Sounds of Silence” is overused, and still I have to agree that LaLa are my fav ice dance team to watch amongst those competing right now, not least because they can do anything from goofy to elegant.

I’m not even a bit upset that Paul apparently ordered his RD costume from someplace that still has stock from the discontinued International Male catalogue.

And it's the birthday of Oscar Wilde, who wrote the most perfect comedy in the English language. That's "The Importance of Being Earnest." He himself understood the importance of being famous, a harbinger of the age of manufactured celebrity and the outsized public persona.

Cannot wait to see how many people here in the US I can convince of this tomorrow at work.

We had a blast yesterday at the screening of “Pay or Die” 😊 We’re looking ahead to the weekend after World Diabetes Day on Sat. 11/16 at 1 pm to protest @novonordisk in solidarity with Janice & advocates in S. Africa 🇿🇦 for a @t1international global demand for #insulin4all 📣
