.@CzechiainEU hosted a joint meeting of 🇨🇿🇪🇪🇭🇷🇵🇱🇧🇬🇱🇹🇱🇻🇭🇺🇷🇴🇸🇮🇸🇰 on the eve of the #GAC cohesion Council. Topics included the exchange of views on the #GAC cohesion programme, the future of the Cohesion Policy and presentation of the roadmap leading to the joint declaration.

This shows yet again that the EU cannot function without #CohesionPolicy Romania’s GDP progressed very quickly since EU accession but internal disparities remain. Cohesion helps regions accelerate convergence & build the basis that will allow them to walk by themselves. 🇪🇺🤝🇷🇴

We visited a hospital, a kindergarden & a meat processing factory in Vaslui ➕the Nicolina Ukrainian Refugee Centre, the medical simulation centre CEMEX & the emergency rescue centre SMURD, in Iași. It is very rewarding to see progress benefiting people in their everyday lives.

Today 4 April I visited with @NicolasSchmit 6 very inspiring #CohesionPolicy funded projects in Romania’s North East region. In spite of being peripheral & lagging, the region has many centres of excellence, entrepreneurial capacity and energy. I am sure it will catch up quickly

Today Commissioner @ElisaFerreiraEC and I are in 🇷🇴 for the launch of the cohesion programme 🤝 More than €7 billion from 🇪🇺 ESF+ will help Romania to create jobs, reduce poverty and implement inclusive policies. Lifting children out of poverty should be top priority.

Thank you to all who came to the citizens dialogue today in Iasi. Pleased to reflect together on the future of Romania and Europe. There are many EU funds available, now we need good ideas and dedicated people to implement good projects which will strengthen both 🇷🇴 and 🇪🇺

Social rights are not abstract, they are tangible. Having access to medical treatment is essential. With €77 million from #NextGenEU the Emergency County Hospital in Vaslui 🇷🇴 will allow more access especially for vulnerable groups and more training for staff to expand skills.

Happy to discover social economy here in Iasi, Romania. Social economy is a dynamic sector that brings innovative new ideas. It is part of the response to the many challenges we face in this period of transformations.

On the occasion of @ElisaFerreiraEC visit to Romania, we went to see several objectives of the Jiul Valley, for which we have a special economic development strategy. I thank her once more for the warmth with which she bent to the needs of the local people.
