Accounts like these are important to read. Without an orientation of what church/ organization/ system betrayal-abuse looks like, it might be really easy to overlook and accept the mistreatment happening in front of us for not just days, but months and years and decades.
Most people can scarcely bear to contemplate abuse, and yet those who have actually lived that reality – as horrific as it is – almost always say that the church’s mistreatment of them was even worse. That mistreatment is what annihilates faith. — @ChristaBrown777
Youth ministry isn’t about a paycheck but you need some kind of paycheck to do youth ministry. Serve in churches where you can earn income. Or, volunteer in churches who understand your need to be bi-vocational. Ask for the flexibility to make earning a living wage a priority.
