1. The paperback of my book on the rise of authoritarianism, After the Fall, is out. It's the backstory of a world unravelling, extraordinary people fighting back, and my personal journey through the rough currents of politics and identity today.

Jared Kushner left the White House, got a $2 billion "investment" from the Saudi Public Investment Fund, and now he will advise the White House on any future Israel-Saudi normalization deal. No conflict of interest there!

The person who published the conspiratorial tweet below on the day that Russia launched its unprovoked, full-scale invasion of Ukraine and the largest and most devastating war on European soil in 80 years was just nominated to be the US director of national intelligence.

This war and suffering could have easily been avoided if Biden Admin/NATO had simply acknowledged Russia’s legitimate security concerns regarding Ukraine’s becoming a member of NATO, which would mean US/NATO forces right on Russia’s border

It’s going to take time to sort through what happened Tuesday. But I've read a lot of takes the past few days (some good, many bad), and I've had a lot of people ask how I won one of the toughest districts in the country by over 13%. Here are some thoughts: 🧵

Liz Cheney came up maybe a half dozen times in my conversations with swing state college students in October — always in a negative way. Especially in Michigan.

Here’s my message to all the young people out there:

As disconcerting as it can be, it is a high privilege to live in a country where you don't know who is going to win an election tomorrow. Highly unusual in human history.

Occasionally lost in the dizzying stakes of this election: it's hard to imagine someone stepping in like Kamala Harris did with just over three months and running a campaign this well. That's anything but easy.

So sad for these Trump staffers who wanted to launder unhinged autocracy through a conventional campaign and were undermined bc they work for an unhinged autocrat.

Re: my comments on CNN and MSNBC this evening... yes, there are Trump staffers who no longer much care whether he wins or loses. Not exactly breaking news. Hard to overstate how terrible morale is inside of this campaign—and how much anger/resentment is felt toward the candidate.

We all face moments when things feel overwhelming, and that’s okay. Remember, you are not alone.
