my mother got a new job at a PE owned nursing home and they’re paying her with a prepaid debit card that doesn’t let her transfer the money to an external bank account?? This country is such a scam
Anyone who tells you this is what a counter-terror operation looks like, a hostage rescue mission looks like, is gaslighting you.
The next 1,000 days (ages 2-5) are a critical time to build on early childhood development, setting children on a path to healthy growth and learning. This new Lancet Series explores how quality early childhood programs can create lasting benefits. thelancet.com/journals/lance…
Fascinating stuff!
Finally I can reveal what I’ve been working on since leaving Vice earlier this year...🧵 1/12
🚨DAVE MIN HAS TAKEN THE LEAD IN CA47! Dave Min (D) - 143,746 (50.2%) Scott Baugh (R) - 142,668 (49.8%)
How does rising inequality affect parents' support of adult children? The wealthy transfer more of their wealth, poorer parents offer co-residence instead.
New #inequality paper! I find that rising inequality in the U.S. links with wider socio-economic gaps in what -and how much- economic support parents give to young adults 👵👴➡️👨🦱 Very happy to see this out in @SF_Journal: doi.org/10.1093/sf/soa… @uoessps @QStepEdinburgh
What a damning statement by Francesca Albanese! @FranceskAlbs #Gaza #Israel
When ppl talk about the Darién Gap they talk numbers; the amount of ppl who have crossed, the number of ppl who didn't make it out alive, the % increase or decrease of migration through it. Rarely do they consider the humanity of those crossing. These podcasts will help 👇🏽.
I really hope you’ll take the time to listen to these.
"We cannot leave the security of Europe in the hands of voters in Wisconsin every 4 years" says France's Europe Minister "Let's get out of collective denial. Europeans must take their destiny into their own hands, regardless of who is elected 🇺🇸president"
BREAKING NEWS! After seven long years of litigation, we did it! We won our case, Al Otro Lado v. Mayorkas, challenging Custom and Border Protection’s (CBP) illegal practice of turning away asylum seekers before they could reach U.S. soil and forcing them to wait on metering…
Little is known, although much is theorized, about the long-run benefits of boosting children's social-emotional skills. Across 450 post-test & follow-up impacts from 86 RCTs, we found similar fadeout rates for intervention impacts on social-emotional & cognitive skills. 1/11
Me: I think writing a paper would be a good idea Me every moment since:
This notion of “regular and safe” pathways to protection is deployed as a means to demonize those who make their own way to seek asylum — something that international law •explicitly• allows them to do.
The notion of 'regular' and 'safe' pathways has become a bit of a mantra in migration & refugee policy circles. Let's have some more critical thinking about their potential & limitations (one being the reluctance of states to establish them, especially for people fleeing danger).
Universal pre-K is more cost-effective as a childcare device than as an educational intervention . Evidence based on lottery.

If you're looking for a way to support grassroots relief efforts in Lebanon, a colleague of mine with deep, migrant-led civil society connections has sent me this fund that is providing support for displaced migrants from the south of Lebanon. gogetfunding.com/emergency-resp…
Reading accounts of how nurses’ fingers were blown and off and their faces and eyes destroyed when their pagers exploded. In hospitals. Just horrifically evil.
