Hard to fathom. What species of plants will be used to cool it down? “Native” isn’t good enough. Wildlife needs locally native. There’s a huge diff. between the 2 when it comes to providing habitat. There’s thousands of Euc. Maculata in Perth. All wasted opportunities 4 #habitat

I recently filmed a story in the Edith Cowan University (ECU) wildlife lab with Channel 9 News. Alongside colleagues from Kanyana Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre we talked about the impact of rat baits on owls and other wildlife. It will be air tonight at 650PM on 9 News Perth.

Because you've all been spending your weekends wondering who'd win a race between a chuditch and a quenda. (Quenda moves off to the left of screen right at the start. Be patient and watch the middle of the screen. Especially for the dust cloud. 😁) And the winner was...

A sense of scale: Top - Chuditch (our biggest local [SW WA] native carnivore) 🥳 Middle - Quenda (this is a big male) 🥰 Bottom - Cat 🤬 [Distance from tree to fence is 500mm] ping @WAFCWG @Gbutterfly19

Opinion: Exotic plants are important for food, and they can be attractive, but I hope Australia will consistently move away from using them in private gardens and public spaces. It would be great to see endemic plants become a more important part of our culture / identity. 1/2

As a mouse plague devastates NSW, there’s never been a more important time to steer clear of second generation anticoagulant rodenticide (SGARs). If the NSW State Government approves wide-scale agricultural use of SGARs, the effects on our native wildlife could be devastating.

With the horrendous news of this broad scale baiting with a controlled rodenticide, we are signing the death warrants of owls and birds of prey. Our research - the most comprehensive review in Australia, showed unequivocally the widespread impacts of secondary poisoning 1/4

What are some practical ways we can share urban habitats with native biodiversity? Our team thought about this question a LOT over the past few years at @CAULHub Here's what we found: A thread of research and resources>>>
