Science + Faith

Connecting life, nature, science, and faith. I believe God created the universe and I trust science. I’m on a search for truth and a mission to understand.

What's wrong with adjusting one's worldview to fit scientific discoveries? Materialists have had to redefine matter to fit the disoveries of general relativity and quantum mechanics, going from solid particles to fluctuations in a quantum field: doi.org/10.1017/CBO978…

The fact that theists have to constantly either: 1. Adjust the claims of the proposed God in line with the most recent scientific discovery OR 2. Just ignore/deny the latest scientific discovery ...should be reason enough to thoroughly dismiss all theistic claims. #Atheism

The longer I live the more I find examples like this.

My first degree was in chemistry, and my second was in chemical engineering. Yet that knowledge and decades of experience reinforce my faith. Many scientists are strong Christians. We have a creator, and he is good.

The Bible is absolutely evidence of God. But it’s not proof of God. It’s important to understand the distinction.

The Bible is evidence of God. Atheists love to say “the Bible was written by man” but if you’ve actually read it, you know more often than not the Bible doesn’t portray the Jewish people or even the characters in a favorable light. “Because I know that you are obstinate, and…

Science can only answer questions about the natural world. And often not “why” questions about it. Philosophy starts with a philosophical inquiry. If you think naturalism has been demonstrated then you don’t know what naturalism is.

No, but science Starts with philosophical inquiry (what/when/where/why/how?), and naturalism has been demonstrated by, like, every scientific explanation ever. So, again, why would you 'hope not' all scientists are naturalists? What, other than *nature*, can science explain?

It would be interesting to know what percentage of scientists reject evolution. And then of those, what percentage started with an agenda or bias to reject evolution.

Just because evolution is taught in your textbooks doesn't make it true. Yes, some scientists believe in evolution, but what they don't teach you is that many scientists completely reject the theory of evolution because there is no real evidence to back it.

The intelligent atheists I know would not assert that it was for no reason. They’d say they don’t know.

Sometimes I try to imagine that a “singularity” of dense matter was floating around (for no reason) and then it exploded and created all life with no guidance or intelligence or intent and it’s so ridiculous I can’t even take it seriously. Sorry guys, that’s a massive cope so you…

There would be more believers if we didn’t have so many Christians arguing things like the earth is only 6,000 years old.

I very much agree. When my faith is strong I fear almost nothing. When my faith is weak I worry about things.

I am familiar with danger, and like everyone else, I crave safety. How can we feel safe in this world? Who is there to protect and shield us when threats loom? Jesus stands with us. Mild and gentle He is a mighty fortress. Find Him and be at peace.

One of the biggest issues facing the church in America today is the rejection of legitimate science by some Christians.

One of the biggest issues facing the church in America today is the lack of a biblical worldview among Christians.

What’s the point in believing that someone loves you? Or that music is good? Or that you have value? We believe things we haven’t proven.

When I was an atheist and I spoke to Christians, Muslims, or Jews, I had the decency to refer to the one they worshipped as God and not “your god”.

The older I get the more I find science-minded people who have matured from atheism to faith. We’re not alone. We should share our journeys so that others feel encouraged. Thank you @sarahsalviander

If you look to the world for comfort moral standards justice rights meaning happiness security you'll be disappointed. I learned this as an atheist. Once I started to think about where my notions of these things came from – the primordial ooze – it didn't hold up. To…

Daily reminder that you don’t have to abandon faith to love and trust science. Science is wonderful but it has limits and can’t explain everything.

If god exists then science reveals his works. Science has been the most successful epistemic endeavour ever, and science confirms the universe is old. Rejecting science because it doesn’t fit with your biblical interpretation, is choosing your interpretation over gods revelation.

Imagine people writing down an accurate account of the Big Bang and evolution for the Old Testament. How could they even make sense of it and what value to gods message would it be? Could god have chosen to give an allegorical account? Of course. Literal interpretation is silly.

I love God. If I found out my children were being taught in school that there is a RIDICULOUS amount of evidence against evolution, I would have a talk with the principal.

There is a RIDICULOUS amount of evidence against evolution, but you'll never see children being taught this at school.
