your runway will increase 5x if you live in bangalore rather than SF. why? its $500 a month for housing + a private chef in bangalore 🤯🤯🤯 for so many founders, this is a much smarter decision, and for some reason I see sooo many founders not understanding that 🧐 so to put…
it's Feb 2024 we didn't have plans to expand to Bangalore. but @hardeep_gambhir saw a concentration of builders in India and thought why not he flew from SF in May to expand there. to this day, he can't decide which is better: SF or BLR story of The Residency BLR🧵👇
🚀 Startup Wisdom: The Power of Engaged Advisory Boards 💡 In my journey of backing over 100 startups, two exceptional leaders stand out: @bmerton and @LakshmanThatai . 🌟 What set them apart? Their commitment to building a dynamic advisory board that meets every quarter! Ben…

closing enterprise customers as a startup
Are Americans racist to Indians? Is that why doing outbound sales from India in SaaS is so incredibly hard? medium.com/@bmerton/are-a… This is literally the single biggest factor holding back Indian SaaS companies today. If we crack it, we can do anything. We need way more…
Best alternative in India to @razorpay currently? They’ve just deactivated ‘settle now’ without telling customers or even their own account managers. Took four days for our account manager to even figure out what has happened. Anyone using a payment portal that doesn’t generally…
In the end, Covid was just a net negative for Zoom Their “second product” — Phone — has crossed 10% of revenues and the enterprise segment has strong growth If they’d just grown at pre-March 2020 rates I think they’d be in a much better, and calmer, position
So far, the most exciting things I’ve seen in AI for B2B SaaS are also things your competitor can also do pretty easily in a week or two, too
The manufacturing startup world always feels ignored by the VC world, and it's funny to see more evidence as @PitchBook's research vertical list doesn't even have anything like manufacturing, hardware, etc. I guess everything physical you can't eat is just "Supply Chain" ?!?
Major misallocation of capital imo. Most on this list won’t make it. Not enough talent in manufacturing & heavy industries.
Another thing that software folks can learn from manufacturing. The Deming Cycle (PDCA) and quality management/continuous improvement (especially how to do a proper root cause analysis, ie not just merging another patch) being a few others. @NickPinkston @apweg @robindchnt…
Would you follow up to recruit a customer-facing person with an interesting resume but who hasn’t returned a missed call?
I'm down for all approaches to make manufacturing easier, but agree that going beyond CNC / 3DP and deeper into the guts of the tech / processes is vital to improve the industry. Each process has a multi-billion dollar TAM, and only a handful are easily available online today.
The “upload CAD, get machined part” startup market is heavily saturated. 90+% of them don’t own CNC machines. The problem is capability and capacity, not demand/supply matching.
