I am a US citizen in Beirut and I have tried buying flights to close, neighboring countries for weeks. The flights keep getting cancelled and all I get is the same lame US Embassy in Beirut email about these commercial options that don't exist.
Our residents keep booking those "available flights," and they are canceled repeatedly, and guess what? The cost of airfare for the one available commercial flight is $8,000. When I told the @StateDept about the cost barrier, their reply is "we will provide them with a loan."
