The ag-water story for 2024 (in Saskatoon area) is really a story of timing that is captured in 2 images for me. The first was taken August 15 of some hayland that was cut in two parts 2 weeks apart at the start of July. #water #westcdnag 1/8
My hot take on stubble is that it is the best cover crop for dryland ag in dry cold places. The easiest part to quantify is that greater stubble height = greater available water. But there are a lot of secondary factors that are really beneficial as well
Thanks @CSSS_Soils for highlighting my work!

Hats off to @SKAgriculture for delivering a well-organized Crop Diagnostic School! They curated a schedule of diverse and timely topics and it was a great chance for me to hear from the other speakers & brush up on some topics. I was thankful to lead the Soil Pit station today.
