"I am a feminist, and what that means to me is much the same as the meaning of the fact that I am Black: it means that I must undertake to love myself and to respect myself as though my very life depends upon self-love and self-respect" - June Jordan

#OTD in 1936, educator, poet, and activist, June Jordan was born in Harlem, New York. Jordan's literary works and activism have been influential in the ongoing fight for recognition and justice for marginalized communities. #APeoplesJourney

When exploring Gospel Choir themes in art, I think Robert Jackson might be my favorite artist. This one is titled "Jubilant." What gospel song does it bring to your mind? For me, it's "He Brought Me" by Dorinda Clarke-Cole.

The courage of our wounded warriors is awe-inspiring. They face unimaginable challenges yet remain steadfast. Their sacrifices remind us of the true heroes behind the statistics. I am grateful for those who protect our freedoms.  Featured Art: "Wounded in Action" by Harvie Brown

I'm all for the museum, but please don't let that governor and his cronies decide what type of "black history" will be featured in that facility. Learn More: news-press.com/story/news/loc… #BlackHistory
