Dr Who 🎓 So @worcester_uni surprised me & I’m now Dr of Letters, my contribution to Indian history. A big thank you to all at the university, Lisa, Diane & Prof Webb. I came to learn about my own history & being recognised like this was something I never dreamt of.

🌹Today marks the Remembrance of those that gave their lives. Over the years I have researched and shared how Indian women have contributed to war efforts and been forgotten. Remember them too and the millions of women whose names we will never know #lestweforget

In 1990, Jagjit Singh and Chitra's 20 y/o son died in an accident. This came as a profound shock to them. They gave up music for a full year. At the end of that period, Jagjit returned slowly to music, but Chitra announced her retirement and declared that she would not sing.

One of the roles I love about my job is being a guest lecturer at universities. Teaching how and why Indian women were involved in the contribution to war efforts and beyond. If you want me to teach at your university drop me an email 📧 kiran@bimcic.com #history #teaching

Congratulations to all that are collecting #MakeADifference award, what a moment. A few years ago I was surprised by being awarded a carers award. Enjoy the moment and well done all in creating positive change. I had a fantastic time with @RakeemOmar @stanchers @bbcwm

On Saturday @bbcwm presented me an award for my work fighting for better rights for carers. Many might not know that I was a young carer myself! What an honour & delighted to dedicate this award to all the carers out there #MakeADifference @RakeemOmar @stanchers @DCMS

India 🇮🇳 independence When India gained its independence in 1947 it was the biggest mass migration. So many stories shared over the years but millions more untold. Women and girls stories are shared in the book by @OxfordYasmin

August book recommendation 📕 The Great Partition by @OxfordYasmin This book is for all, so please don’t worry if you don’t know history well. The Partition ensured India & its people were never the same again. The history is sensitively written. A book on my reading list
