Water we doing to help our wildlife? Our Wildlife Managers in Region 3 West are monitoring vital water catchments. In September, they replaced an old sensor with a new Ranchbot at Cottonwood Canyon, cleverly crafting a mount from one of our old signs.

For the love of bats—please turn off that fan! 🦇 As we kick off #BatWeek, we want to remind you about a serious issue affecting bats in Tucson/Phoenix: patio fans. Bats searching for hummingbird feeders often collide with these fans. Please turn them off when you head inside.

Countless miles & a trail of snails! This summer, our Invertebrate Wildlife team traveled 7,504 miles across AZ, conducting vital surveys for native & invasive snails. With volunteer support, we targeted 15 Species of Greatest Conservation Need & removed over 700 invasive snails.

Happy #NationalReptileAwarenessDay! 🐍 Arizona boasts 112 reptile species, including 57 snakes, 49 lizards, and 6 turtles! Home to the Arizona Ridge-nosed Rattlesnake and 13 rattlesnake species, plus the iconic Gila monster—one of just two venomous lizards in North America!


As waterfowl season kicks off in a few days, our Wildlife Managers in the White Mountains remind hunters to pick up their shotgun shells after each outing. Shotgun shells are litter and keeping our marshes clean protects wildlife and enhances everyone's experience.
