As the holidays approach and the darkness settles in, I know many of us will experience complicated feelings about food and eating. If this resonates, I offer you this essay I wrote about breaking open and reclaiming my relationship with food: yesmagazine.org/opinion/2021/1…

How do we pursue rest and joy under capitalism? I had the pleasure of working with the brilliant @gabestorres on this piece that brings such a needed, non-Western perspective to this question. yesmagazine.org/opinion/2021/1…

As a BTS fan, but a journo first and foremost, I tried coming into this open minded. I heard the backlash, but wanted to see for myself and...yeah, it's not good. I'll thread a few reasons why I have a problem with it below >>>

What the hell NYTimes? Like getting rid of toxic friends is fine, but that’s not what this says. It’s saying to get rid of fat/depressed friends? Is it “kind” to get rid of friends just because of shit that is largely genetics? Talk about being a step away from eugenics.

The CDC is reporting Native Americans have the highest vaccination rate in the country. Local and state governments could learn a lot from the vaccination campaigns led by Native Nations.

CDC’s COVID Data Tracker now displays vaccination progress in the U.S. by race and ethnicity. See the percentage of people in each racial/ethnic group who have received at least one dose of a #COVID19 vaccine and how many are fully vaccinated. More: bit.ly/CDTvaxdemo.

If you want “children should be cared for by their parents” to be a public policy objective then you have to accept policy that: - corrects for fifty years of wage suppression - mandates paid parental leave - closes the wage gap - mandates flex time & WFH - bans mommy tracking
