I hope the pen is mightier than the sword, because my skills lie in writing and editing. I would be pretty useless with a sword.

I'm glad Kara Goucher's book is making people refuse to buy Nike, but were y'all not listening when Kara, Allyson Felix, and Alysia Montaño first told you years ago? Or was that mistreatment not bad enough?

I wrote about this nonprofit that's helping students at HBCUs and Hispanic- and Indigenous-serving institutions navigate the process of applying to med school.

“We have to diversify medicine in a way to make it look more like our patient population, but no one tells you how to do that.”—Sydney Labat MD, cofounder @the15whitecoats Read how the #nonprofit is preparing underrepresented students for medical school. ssir.org/articles/entry…

First Aptos becomes the default font in Word, and now this. So many better font options exist!

BREAKING: Here's your first look at the new @Nike kits that will be worn by the U.S. track and field team at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

Calling on US track media/orgs, @FloTrack @CitiusMag @letsrundotcom @USTFCCCA @NCAATrackField @usatf to share this piece about what we can all do to make college track more resistant to elimination. This is a needed conversation. Please share run.outsideonline.com/people/why-we-…

Necessary reading for anyone who cares about #trackandfield (and even cross-country)--for anyone. If universities keep cutting teams, high school athletes will have dwindling opportunities to stay in the sport.

Please check out this piece I wrote in @Outside_Run @outsidemagazine about why we need to save collegiate track and field and what we, as a track community, can do to save the sport, and college Olympic sports more broadly run.outsideonline.com/people/why-we-…

I strained my shoulder shoveling heavy snow and Usher shows up full on roller skate dancing at 45 years old

Of the 173 women who qualified for the Olympic Trials marathon this year, @ahendrix11 is 1 of 3 U.S.-born Black women. She's also the 3rd fastest U.S.-born Black woman marathoner of all time. runnersworld.com/runners-storie…

I loved recording this podcast episode with Patti, who broke a whole bunch of barriers for women in distance running. She was the @bostonmarathon runner-up 3 times in a row. “Always a bridesmaid!” she said.

Patti Catalano Dillon is the 1st U.S. woman to break 2:30 in the marathon. She has held U.S. & world records at various distances. Patti is Mi’kmaq, making her the 1st Native American woman to achieve these running accolades. @atburtka hosts this episode: bit.ly/stl1928pdc

When people clean up and "green" vacant lots, the neighborhoods don't just feel safer--they actually are safer. Rates of violent crime go down, even if the lots are only mowed, @UMich @MichiganYVPC researchers have found repeatedly. My first for @NatGeo nationalgeographic.com/environment/ar…

Running with paint was her first big leap into athletic activism. Over time, Rosalie Fish has been able to develop and adjust the way that she advocates for Indigenous people. bit.ly/3MZjYtb

How many people read this headline before it went to print? If it didn't set off racism alarm bells for any of them, that's a problem, @WSJ

This was the best experience: Experiencing, photographing, and writing about this BIPOC running retreat in Alaska. So glad @seattletimes Pacific NW mag wanted this story! seattletimes.com/pacific-nw-mag…

This doesn't make any sense. If NBC is willing to move earlier, why wouldn't everyone else?

Update from meeting w/ Max & @usatf on Trials start time: Everyone is willing to move earlier except LOC, @GreaterORLSport . Even @nbc is willing to broadcast live earlier. Counting on Orlando to protect the integrity of the event and put athletes’ safety first!

Helping schools exclude this whole section is a disservice to all kids, who might find something there that sparks an interest. But it's especially harmful to the kids who aren't used to seeing themselves represented & might find exactly what they need. Do better, @Scholastic

Stunned that @Scholastic Book Fairs is self-censoring the books in its “Share Every Story, Celebrate Every Voice,” which are predominantly by queer, disabled, & Black & brown authors. This is not sharing our stories--it's treating them as separate but equal.
