Good stuff & I have just watched @Channel4News ✔️ *The but… I am willing to wager that this community placement is being funded via entitlement to S.117 aftercare of the #MHA
“I’ve been able to actually go outside and do things like people should be… I went out there at two in the morning, I could actually look at the stars and the moon, because I haven’t been able to see that for years,” After being detained for over 10 years just for being…
It warms my heart to be able to publish this. After a decade of being locked away in hospitals and care homes, Nicholas Thornton, a young man with Autism is finally free It comes a year after @Independent and @Channel4News told his story independent.co.uk/tv/news/autism…

Far too often… The #MHA & the #AMHP & the S.12 Dr r seen as the solution to the problem✔️ Far too often… the #MHA & #AMHP & S.12 Dr r being used as a risk assessment & bed management tools ✔️
It was my last S12 rota day yesterday in Hackney. And more depressing than ever, intervention too late and not intensive enough and our whole system pivots on the fantasy that just get the person admitted to the ward and everything will get fixed. Sigh.
Dear officers of the law - good luck with that ✔️ #FreeCPD @MentalHealthCop✔️ I suspect #RCRP does not address S.135. Because 2 often the girls & boys in blue, don’t think it’s their business & the numbers r relatively low (but increasing) when compared to the ubiquitous S.136.

I dont always agree with eminent & big 🧀 psychiatrists✔️ But this I can go with✔️ & MH Trusts need to be less obsessed with who ur GP is - when u r in MH crisis & they should do Clozapine bloods also✔️
Ok I am biased. But we cannot push everything down to GPs. Mental health trusts should do follow up, relapse prevention and medication management for bipolar patients. GPs see more patients everyday than acutes or mental health trusts , but get less than 10% of the budget.
A reminder of our concerns about removing Autism and Learning Disabilities from the Mental Health Act. To be clear we don’t think our people should be in hospital, but without a government commitment to providing the right community care, things could get much worse for them.…

Very sad news from Walworth, south London earlier today: an incident which is "understood to be mental health related", whatever that means. And seeing the term today, did get me asking "I wonder what they mean when they say it?" - it doesn't help. 1/ bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
Tim Spencer-Lane is a v clever fella ✔️ Who gets to define what “serious harm” is & what it isn’t? Who gets to define if treatment & care & coercion has a therapeutic benefit or not?
