Thanks @goodfellow_ian, working policy has to change.

Ian Goodfellow, Apple’s director of machine learning, is leaving the company due to its return to work policy. In a note to staff, he said “I believe strongly that more flexibility would have been the best policy for my team.” He was likely the company’s most cited ML expert.

3 minuti e 10 secondi alla fine di Golden State-Dallas: 108-114. Le statistiche di Curry da qui alla fine: 12 punti 2/2 da due 2/2 da tre 2/2 ai liberi Risultato finale 120-117. Negli ultimi 190 secondi Steph-Dallas 12-3. Eternamente irreale. #NBAtipo

Shadows in emulated Mario 64 versions float above the ground and visibly clip into Mario's model. I will explain why:

Throughout the different rereleases of Super Mario 64 over the years, Mario is being progressively consumed by his shadow. With each new engine the game runs on, his shadow rises up further from the ground and covers more of his feet.

This may look like a game of Counterstrike running slowly, but it actually extraordinary. The entire game is created, frame-by-frame, on my *home computer* by an AI diffusion model in response to my actions. There is no game engine, just a "world model" trained on Counterstrike

Wow, diffusion models (used in AI image generation) are also game engines - a type of world simulation. By predicting the next frame of the classic shooter DOOM, you get a playable game at 20 fps without any underlying real game engine. This video is from the diffusion model.

A typical Rails app will serve up to 1.5 requests per second per vCPU. With tuning plus an optimized app, that can be up to about 5 requests per/sec/vCPU. So these days, vertical scaling can buy you 75-250 requests per/sec for 350 a month… not bad. ~5-10x better than Heroku.

Italy's exports to Kyrgyzstan are up 1000% from before the invasion. This goes on from all EU countries to all of Central Asia and the Caucasus, so the overall numbers are big. The EU has 13 sanctions packages against Russia, but what does that even mean if this keeps going on...
