Houdini and Karma XPU Testing refraction driven by a ramp. Speed is good (not like RS but good), but I prefer it over RS for overall quality/realism. @sidefx
Ok, I'm officially having fun. #Blender + Cycles interactivity is impressive, shaders work very similar to RedShift ... as you can see I am not comfortable with the controls but I'm working on it ...
I've been testing #Blender for a few months now, and I have to say that I'm really impressed. I imported this sequence in USD format (exported from Houdini); Blender applies a 'mesh sequence cache' modifier that allows referencing the file. Cycles seems a great render engine

Houdini 20.5 Sneak Peek - check out some of the upcoming new tools and enhancements that will be in the next public version of Houdini! More information to be revealed at the Paris launch on June 18, 2024.
Some Bifrost fluid test I did a while ago in @AdskMaya , rendered with @arnoldrenderer , it is a low res test, and I think it could look much better if I was putting more time into it. #maya3d #vfx #fluid #liquid #water #simulation #bifrost
I have been working on a real-time GPU path tracing renderer called "Aurora" at #Autodesk, and I am happy to share that it will be made open source soon! See the announcement here, with more details to come: forums.autodesk.com/t5/engineering… #SIGGRAPH2022
Noise calls from vex can be a chore to type out. Keaton Williamson has made a handy online code generator to save you the effort. Nice one! keatonwilliamson.com/houdini/noise/…
This needs another plug. @_Nick_Taylor created a great guide for the (too?) many ways you can deform geometry with other geometry. I always forget the edge cases, this article and hip covers it all. nicholas-taylor.com/blog/deforms
