The first time you work really hard on something, in addition to the immediate benefit (whatever you were working for) you also learn that you're capable of working really hard. This makes it easier to be ambitious in all your future plans.

#SpotifyWrapped2024 is out for this year and they only start collecting data from January 1st. Welcome to 26 days of listening to anything you want without Spotify bringing it up next year!

It will be really funny if once Bryan Johnson goes back, his reports tell him he has aged a decade during the India trip. Big part of longevity is to not live in Indian cities.

This applies to India as well. We need to think about ability to implement when we think about adding new things. India's education system has just copied practices from high capacity states. This has given rise to so many 'good intentions but no impact' practices.

We're often encouraged to copy the Finnish education system. But the reforms that led to its success enforced a level of state centralisation that i think English teachers would baulk at - and that I am not sure the UK state has the capacity for. Latest from us.…

I use the For You tab here to find interesting people/accounts. I use the Following tab to actually engage. I think this might be the way I can use X effectively. Just one of the two makes it either too random or too predictable.

What's a good article to read about Javier Milei and things he has done in Argentina? I am looking for a long read and now just bullet points converted into sentences for hyperbole.

Your regular reminder that *economic growth* is terribly underrated as a key ingredient in development. Often, there’s no money for public services (or HH purchasing power) in our region because there’s no money.

We need to get to $5k GDP per capita on average to really unlock B2C across the board…both tech and non-tech. And it is so well within reach it’s 😡 that we are stuck as a region because of basic reasons.

This!

I asked a friend who's a criminal defense lawyer what he'd change about the world to fix the most problems. He specializes in death penalty cases, so he's seen a lot. I expected him to say drugs, but he said if he could change one thing, it would be to make people better parents.

Stubbornness is a curiously neutral quality. It multiplies your other qualities, good or bad. If you're wise and effective, a bit of stubbornness helps you. But there's nothing worse than a stubborn fool.

There are prominent voices in parenting and education who caution against using praise and rewards to motivate children. This is like people using screwdriver to hammer in a screw, finding it ineffective, and then declaring screwdrivers useless. They show their fundamental lack…

If unconditional love and genuine enthusiasm are present, praise isn’t necessary. If they’re absent, praise won’t help.

If anyone except Pep was benching Ederson and Gvardiol for this match after the last 5 matches and this happened, they wouldn't be there next match onwards. Probably Pep is also in danger. #LIVMCI

Unable to subscribe to @perplexity_ai pro because of RBI guidelines about recurring payments. Has anyone found a way around it?

Schools are mostly state-run prisons to shape children into being NPCs The Department of Education has caused unconscionable societal harm over the last 45 years That so many handed over their children’s minds to the government will be mocked in the coming decades

i genuinely did not think i would end up homeschooling but the more i think about regular normie school the more insane it seems

As I finish my last day at this job, I am realizing that I am part of 75 different work whatsapp groups. This is the communication debt that you accrue over 5.5 years!

The federal government spends $6.2 trillion/year. Jeff Bezos's net worth is $217.5 Billion. If the government took 100% of Bezos's net worth it would spend it in 12.8 days. Taking 100% of the net worth of one of the richest billionaires would float us for less than two weeks.

The problem isn’t government waste. The problem is that billionaires don’t pay taxes.

If you think having uncomfortable conversations is hard - wait until you see the result of not having them.

This applies to India as well. :)

It should excite everyone to have the government aim for more efficiecy. Better services for citizens, less friction and red tape for growing innovative businesses and creating more jobs, and ultimately a better use of dollars going into the highest impact areas.

if you’re a young person interested in weird things, basically the only good advice is you should be 100x more commercial. someone will get very rich by monetizing the things you find out, there’s no reason that person shouldn’t be you.
